They stood firm in the teaching of the apostles, in fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayer. (Acts 2:42)
The early church focused on the following 4 pillars: apostolic teaching, fellowship with each other, meals and prayers. Given this, we must ask ourselves what are the activities to which we dedicate ourselves. Our emphasis should be to strive to practice these pillars. Apostolic teaching is the basis of the faith of Christianity.
Communion is the united body of Christ receiving blessing. Meals with our brothers strengthen ties and serve to give to those who do not have. And prayers connect us directly to God.
The early church was very blessed because they dedicated themselves to those actions, as they loved God above all else and loved one another. What moves you to do your love for God? Does your love for your neighbor have any results? Follow the example of the early church!
Dedicate yourself! Study the teaching of the apostles, read the Bible Enjoy communion with the church, be church with them Intensify your prayer so that God is part of your daily life.
To pray:
Lord God, my loving Father, help me to dedicate myself to what really matters as the early church did. May my heart be transformed by the teaching of the apostles, direct followers of Jesus Christ, and may I love my brothers as the early church loved one another. Keep me away from selfishness and pride and let me adhere to your commandments. In Jesus’ name, amen.
