Main Verse: 1 John 4:18

“There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear.”

We all face fears. There are situations we cannot control and moments when uncertainty tries to fill our hearts with anxiety. However, God’s Word teaches us that our confidence should not be placed in our circumstances, but in the perfect love of God.

HOW CAN WE DEVELOP CONFIDENCE IN GOD?

KNOW GOD AND DISCOVER HIS GOODNESS

Confidence grows when we get to know someone and see the way they act.

The same is true with God. The more we know His Word, His character, and His faithfulness, the more we learn to trust Him.

Psalm 34:8 says:

“Taste and see that the Lord is good.”

We cannot truly know God’s goodness simply by listening to what others say. We must walk with Him and allow Him to work in our lives.

Perhaps today you are going through a situation that you cannot control. Remember the times when God has already sustained you, helped you, and made a way for you.

The God who was faithful yesterday is still faithful today.

THE CROSS IS THE GREATEST PROOF OF GOD’S LOVE

Many people struggle to trust because they have been disappointed by others. People we trust may fail us, but God has already shown us that His love is different.

Romans 8:32 says:

“He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?”

God already gave what was most precious: His own Son, Jesus Christ.

The cross is the evidence that God loves us.

1 John 4:10 declares:

“This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us.”

You do not need to wait for another sign to know that God loves you.

The cross has already proven it.

If God gave His Son to save you, you can trust Him even when you do not understand everything that is happening.

GOD’S LOVE DRIVES OUT FEAR AND GIVES US LIFE

1 John 4:18 says:

“Perfect love drives out fear.”

This does not mean that we will never feel afraid. It means that fear does not have to control our lives.

Jesus said in John 10:10:

“I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.”

God does not want to destroy your life or take away your purpose. He wants to give you a life filled with His presence, His peace, and His direction.

Therefore, when fear comes, remember who is with you.

We may feel afraid, but we can still choose to trust God.

Trusting God does not mean ignoring our problems; it means facing our problems knowing that God is present.

TRUST GOD AND PUT YOUR FAITH INTO ACTION

Trusting God does not mean living irresponsibly. True faith produces obedience and action.

We should pray, but we must also act wisely. We should trust God, but we must also properly manage what He places in our hands.

If God gives you a family, take care of it.

If He gives you a job, be responsible.

If He gives you resources, manage them wisely.

If He gives you an opportunity, take it.

If He calls you to serve, obey.

And when difficult moments come, remember the words of Romans 8:38–39:

“Nothing can separate us from the love of God.”

Neither death nor life, neither our fears today nor our worries about tomorrow can separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus.

FINAL REFLECTION

Perhaps today you are afraid of what might happen tomorrow.

Perhaps there is something you cannot control.

But today, God is inviting you to trust Him.

Get to know Him.
Look at the cross.
Reject fear.
Put your faith into action.

We do not know what tomorrow will bring, but we do know who will be with us.

The Lord is faithful. You can trust Him.

PRAYER

Father, in the name of Jesus, forgive us for our lack of trust and our lack of faith.

Help us to know You more each day and to remember Your faithfulness.

When we feel afraid, help us remember that Your perfect love drives out all fear.

Thank You for demonstrating Your love on the cross through Jesus Christ.

Teach us to trust You, to walk in wisdom, and to put our faith into action.

Even though we do not know what tomorrow will bring, we choose to trust You because we know that You will be with us.
