Main Text: John 10:10 – Jesus, the Good Shepherd
Jeremiah 29:10 • Proverbs 29:18
Introduction
Life can often feel like a succession of crises—problems that repeat themselves again and again. However, Jesus declared that He came so that we may have life, and life in abundance (John 10:10). We were not called to merely survive, but to live with purpose under the guidance of the Good Shepherd. When there is no vision, the people perish (Proverbs 29:18), but God assures us that He has thoughts of peace and not of evil (Jeremiah 29:10–11).
Identify the Cycle of Crisis
Hosea 4:6 • Psalm 107:17 • Isaiah 51:13
Many times we live trapped in cycles of crisis because we do not recognize what causes them.
- Hosea 4:6 reminds us that a lack of knowledge destroys.
- Psalm 107:17 describes those who suffer because of their own foolish decisions.
- Isaiah 51:13 shows how fear paralyzes us and makes us forget the God who stretched out the heavens.
Before breaking a cycle, we must identify it:
What keeps repeating in your life?
What decisions, habits, or fears lead you back to the same place?
God does not reveal a pattern to condemn you, but to set you free.
The Power of a Purpose-Driven Mindset
Romans 12:2 • Philippians 4:8 • James 1:8
It is not enough to leave crisis behind; we must adopt a renewed mindset.
- Romans 12:2 calls us to be transformed by the renewing of our mind so we can discern God’s good, pleasing, and perfect will.
- Philippians 4:8 teaches us to focus our thoughts on what is true, just, pure, and worthy of praise.
- James 1:8 warns that a double-minded person is unstable in all their ways—this is why defining your direction is essential.
A purpose-driven mindset:
- Establishes you.
- Focuses you.
- Allows you to move forward with clarity even in difficult seasons.
When your mind is aligned with God, your life becomes ordered, your decisions change, and your path becomes illuminated.
Jesus, the Good Shepherd, did not call us to live reacting to crises but to advance toward His purpose. He has plans of well-being for you—thoughts of peace and not of evil. Today is a good moment to pause, identify the cycles that have drained you, and allow God to renew your mind.
Prayer
Lord Jesus, thank You because You are my Good Shepherd. Today I choose to stop living in cycles of crisis and embrace the purpose You have for me. Show me what I need to change, renew my mind, and guide my steps according to Your will. Amen.
Sincerely,
Pastor Guillermo Ayala
