Key Verse: Exodus 5:1-2
Then Moses and Aaron went in and told Pharaoh, “Thus says the Lord God of Israel: ‘Let My people go, that they may hold a feast to Me in the wilderness.’” And Pharaoh said, “Who is the Lord, that I should obey His voice to let Israel go? I do not know the Lord, nor will I let Israel go.”
From the beginning, Pharaoh’s heart was hardened against God’s voice. His arrogance and unbelief led him to resist, bringing judgment upon Egypt. This attitude reminds us of the importance of living with a heart that is sensitive to God and willing to obey Him.
1. Stay Sensitive to the Voice of the Holy Spirit
“Today, if you hear His voice, do not harden your hearts…”
—Psalm 95:7-8
God speaks to us constantly, but if we harden our hearts like Pharaoh did (Exodus 8:15), we risk straying from His purpose. Hebrews 3:15 exhorts us to remain sensitive to His direction because a hardened heart prevents us from receiving His grace and guidance.
2. Indecision and a Divided Heart
“Blessed is the one who always fears the Lord, but whoever hardens their heart falls into trouble.”
—Proverbs 28:14
A divided heart cannot fully follow God. Indecision makes us waver between obedience and disobedience. We must choose to trust the Lord with all our being and surrender control of our lives to Him.
3. Determine to Live for God and Serve Him
Our relationship with God requires determination. Joshua firmly declared:
“But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”
—Joshua 24:15
Today, let us make the decision to live with integrity and simplicity, without double-mindedness or hardened hearts, but with a genuine commitment to follow and serve God with all our being.
Sincerely,
Pastor Guillermo Ayala
