DWELL IN THE SHELTER
Reading time: 5 minutes
Main Scripture: Psalm 91:1–2 (NKJV)
“He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the LORD, ‘He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust.’”
Have You Forgotten Who Your God Is?
Many times, we know the Word of God. We know that He is powerful and that His promises are true. Yet, when we go through difficult times, it seems that we forget who is with us.
It is easy to talk about faith when everything is going well. However, when problems, illness, and thoughts such as “You won’t be able to do it,” “You are not prepared,” or “Your past proves that you will not succeed” come our way, our faith can be challenged.
Doubt can begin with a small thought and become a voice that tries to stop us. But today, we need to remember that our future is not determined by our past mistakes. Instead, we must learn to trust God and walk according to His Word.
God Has Thoughts of Peace for Your Life
Jeremiah 29:11 says:
“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.”
Perhaps you are going through a situation today that you do not understand. You cannot see the future clearly, and you wonder why things are not turning out as you expected. Do not allow your circumstances to make you forget that God is still worthy of your trust.
The LORD Is the Strength of His People
Psalm 28:8 declares:
“The LORD is their strength, and He is the saving refuge of His anointed.”
Sometimes, we forget this truth. We know the verses, have read them many times, and may even be able to recite them from memory. Yet, when trials come, we act as though we must solve everything in our own strength.
We need to recognize that God is our refuge and turn to Him.
There may be seasons of silence, waiting, and loneliness. There will be situations in which you do not have all the answers. Nevertheless, you can continue seeking the Lord, knowing that your life is in His hands.
Where Does Your Help Come From?
Psalm 121:1–2 says:
“I will lift up my eyes to the hills—from whence comes my help? My help comes from the LORD, who made heaven and earth.”
The Lord is our help. We can turn to Him when we are afraid, when we need direction, and when circumstances seem to be beyond our strength.
We must not allow our past to define our lives. The negative words others have spoken over us do not have to become the voice that directs our future. God invites us to look beyond our limitations and depend on Him.
Dwell Under the Shelter of the Most High
Psalm 91:1–2 reminds us that the person who dwells in the shelter of the Most High abides under the shadow of the Almighty and can declare that God is their hope, their fortress, and the One in whom they trust.
Just as we seek shelter when the weather is cold, we need to remember that our spiritual refuge is found in God.
Do Not Forget to Cry Out to God
Jeremiah 33:3 says:
“Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.”
Today is a good day to return to prayer, lift our eyes, and say, “Father, here I am. I need Your help. Teach me to trust You.”
God knows your struggles, your tears, and the things you do not know how to express. Draw near to Him sincerely and allow His Word to renew your faith.
Do not let difficulties make you forget where your refuge is. Do not let doubt cause you to abandon your trust. And do not walk away from the presence of God.
Prayer
Loving Father, thank You because You are my refuge and my strength. Forgive me when my worries cause me to forget Your promises. Help me trust You even when I do not understand what is happening. Teach me to seek You every day, to cry out to You, and to remain under Your shelter. May my heart never forget that my help comes from You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Sincerely, Abraham Lopez
