God’s Mercy and Provision

Reading Time: 3 Minutes

Bible Readings: Exodus 3:1-22, Acts 9:1-9, John 20:24-29

In our series The God of the Old Testament, each week we will consider a possible connection to a New Testament teaching that reflects a trait of God’s character.

1️⃣ Let’s Look at Jesus Working in Saul and Thomas

In Acts 9:1-9, we see how Jesus directly intervenes in the life of Saul, a persecutor of the church, transforming his heart and turning him from an enemy of the faith into the Apostle Paul—writer of much of the New Testament, missionary, and church founder.
Similarly, in John 20:24-29, Thomas doubts the resurrection until Jesus appears to him, dispelling his disbelief with love.
Jesus continues to work in our lives, even in moments of doubt or error, showing us His mercy to transform us.

2️⃣ God Sees and Knows the Affliction of His People

In Exodus 3:7, 16-17, God reveals to Moses that He has seen the suffering of His people in Egypt and promises to deliver them. This reminds us that God is never indifferent to our pain.
When you feel alone or in difficulty, remember that God is aware of your affliction and has a plan for provision and deliverance.

3️⃣ God Hears Us When We Cry Out to Him

God not only sees our suffering but also hears our prayers and responds with mercy. The story of Israel in Egypt teaches us that His timing is perfect and His answer always comes.
Do not grow weary of crying out to God (Jeremiah 33:3). He hears every prayer, and in His mercy, He will provide what you need at the right moment.

Sincerely,
Pastor Guillermo Ayala
