GROWING IN THE TRUTH

2 Corinthians 11:3-4

In this final installment of our series Hunger and Thirst, increasing our appetite for the things of God, I would like to ask you to truly ask the Lord to give you hunger and thirst for Himself, for truth. Jesus is the truth, the bread of life. From His mouth comes life, from His being emanates everything we need to live, and live well.

THE WORD OF GOD IS YOUR MAIN SOURCE OF NOURISHMENT
It is in the Bible that we can fully trust, as it is the Word of God, the revelation that God gave to His servants to communicate His will to our lives. What can I tell you about the Word of God, that it is a double-edged sword that penetrates to the deepest part of a person’s heart, and the Holy Spirit works so that that Word brings conviction to the heart. There are many people who receive the Word, as in the parable of the sower in Mt. 13, but for various reasons, the fruit that is expected does not come, only that which falls on good ground. I wish that you be that good ground, that you come to the Church with a good attitude to receive your portion, your food, your strength that we receive by being exposed to that blessed Word.

Jesus said: “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.” Just as you eat three times a day, at least, although others more than that, you must seek to feed on the Word of the Lord, but many believers have a diet of hearing a sermon a week, but that way you will not be robust, strong, but rather weak, an easy prey for the enemy. But God wants to speak to you constantly and through the Bible, the most sure prophetic word, I guarantee you that He will speak to you, if only you approach it, and ask the Holy Spirit to reveal it to you, to make you understand what God wants to communicate to you.

PRAYER IS A WAY TO BE STRENGTHENED IN THE SPIRIT
It is a main source of spiritual nourishment, remember we talked about hunger and thirst for God, for the things of God, for His Kingdom, for His Church. Prayer was a vital part of Jesus’ ministry, Scripture says that He withdrew to quiet places where He could pray. He prayed in the morning, at nightfall, during the day He worked hard to bring the gospel to every place He could. Even in the most difficult moments, prayer played a very important role in His ministry. If that was in the life of the Son of God, can you imagine how much we need to be connected to the source of eternal life, and it is through a life of prayer and worship that we can say: “Blessed be the name of the Lord, His praise will be continually in my mouth”, Hallelujah.

ALSO GROW WITH BIBLE STUDY TOOLS AND READING CHRISTIAN BOOKS
Today there are so many resources at our disposal, many of them available to everyone online, resources and tools like Bible Commentaries, Concordances, Study Bibles, Dictionaries, etc. that will help you better understand the Scriptures and help you expand your understanding of who God is, know His will, His character, in short you just have to determine to grow.
With all that understanding and knowledge that you acquire, God wants you to become more and more like Him, to serve Him with all your heart, to advance in fulfilling the purpose He has for you, which is wonderful. And if we add to that that God has also gifted godly men who write very valuable books for our formation, that is something powerful. Let me ask you a question: How long has it been since you read a good book that builds you up, that challenges you to step out of your comfort zone, that brings out the best in you? I hope you don’t say uuuuuhhhhh, a long time, and if that’s your case, I urge you to make the decision to get out of that spiritual lethargy and take action.

LEARN TO DISCERN WHAT IS FALSE AND WHAT IS TRUE
In the passage that served as our basis, Paul feared that the Christians in Corinth would be deceived by false teachers, who preached or taught a false gospel, but you cannot distinguish the false from the true, if you do not know the true well. If you know the Word well, people may come, even though well-intentioned, but with doctrines that do not adhere to what the Word teaches and you will be able to discern that it is not true.

I wish you a blessed day, and to grow in the Truth of God.
