Scripture Reading:
Psalm 67:2-4:
“That Your way may be known on earth, Your salvation among all nations. Let the peoples praise You, O God; let all the peoples praise You. Oh, let the nations be glad and sing for joy! For You shall judge the people righteously, and govern the nations on earth.”
Matthew 28:18-20:
“And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, ‘All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.’ Amen.”
Philippians 2:8-9:
“And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross. Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name.”
The Great Commission is not just a command; it is a call to be seasoned with the essence of the Gospel, bringing Christ’s transformative message to all nations. As the psalmist expresses in Psalm 67, our mission is to make God’s way known and to lead people to experience His justice and guidance.
Jesus modeled this purpose through His obedience. In Philippians 2, we see how He humbled Himself out of love for us, demonstrating the attitude we should adopt in fulfilling the Great Commission: an attitude of service, sacrifice, and love.
The mandate in Matthew 28 wraps us in a mission that transcends borders, cultures, and languages. Our calling is to proclaim the Gospel and make disciples, teaching them to live according to the Word. This mandate does not rely on our own abilities but on Christ’s authority, who is with us until the very end.
Reflect and Act:
- Pray for the nations: Ask God to give you a compassionate heart for the lost and to reveal how you can participate in His global mission.
- Be intentional in your context: Share the hope of the Gospel with those around you—whether in your family, workplace, or community.
- Act with humility: Following Christ’s example, let your life reflect His love and grace.
Prayer:
Lord, we want to be seasoned with Your love and obedience to fulfill the Great Commission. Help us to boldly proclaim Your salvation, to live with humility as Jesus did, and to be a light in this world. May our lives reflect Your grace and truth. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
