Key Verse:
“Waiting for the blessed hope—the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ”
(Titus 2:13)
The promise of Christ’s second coming is one of the greatest sources of hope for believers. The Greek word parousia, meaning “coming,” reminds us that this is not merely a promise, but a guarantee of Christ’s future presence, a glorious and awaited return.
1. Live a Holy and Godly Life
Since Christ will return, we are called to live holy lives, distancing ourselves from evil and drawing closer to God each day. Peter exhorts us to live “holy and godly lives” as we wait for His coming (2 Peter 3:11). Let us remember that our lives can reflect Christ’s light and purity, and in doing so, we can be a living testimony of His love and truth to those around us.
2. Surrender Control of Your Life to Him
Waiting on Christ also involves total surrender to Him. It means placing not only our circumstances but also our decisions, schedules, and goals in His hands. John 11:25 reminds us that Christ is the resurrection and the life, and by surrendering control to Him, we trust that He has the best for us. Allowing God to guide our steps as we await His return strengthens our faith and brings us closer to Him.
3. Wait with Active Hope
Waiting for Christ’s coming is not a passive wait but an active one. Each day, we can prepare ourselves by serving God and others, living with the love and peace He gives us. Just as we eagerly await that glorious manifestation, we should also reflect that hope to others, showing the joy and assurance that comes from knowing Christ will return.
Sincerely,
